Happy Anniversary; a Year in Pictures

Today is our anniversary. One year ago today was the first time I set eyes on Charlie and was the day he decided he would be coming home with me, I had very little choice in the matter. Thankfully!

I wanted to put together a pictorial review of our year as a reminder of just how far we have both come and how much joy and love I feel for this magnificent horse.

Charlie has had a very intense 12 months, from leaving his family band and the amazing care of Martine at Spanish Mustangs UK, to arriving in Italy to begin his new life with me. He has managed his new surroundings and his Italian life with grace, performing beyond my expectations.

As winter came upon us it was the perfect opportunity to allow both of us to reflect, giving him the space to mature both physically and mentally. As I spent this quality time with him, I realised that for me also it had been a “big” year. One of change and personal growth that was both needed and I was ready for.

They say “we don’t meet horses by accident, they are meant to cross our path for a reason”. This is certainly true about Charlie and me…

I hope you enjoy our memories.. Can’t wait for the next chapter..

With thanks and appreciation;

Martine Lattau at Spanish Mustangs UK who over the last year has become a very special friend. She will be having another set of foals due this spring. If you are interested in sharing your life with one of the most amazing horse breeds ever, her knowledge and care of this most precious breed is second to non!

The power of a smile has the ability to change the course of your life, thank you Donna…

My partner Neil who’s patience knows no bounds!

and last but definitely not least Charlie, thank you for being the best teacher, for pushing me when I need to listen, for rewarding my tries and forgiving those days I don’t get it right!

Separation Anxiety

separation anxiety is not something to punish but it is something to work through with them. There’s nothing gained just separating the horse that is anxious and leaving them to work it out on their own.
